I had someone ask me recently, "So how's the bus? Must be nice living that leisure lifestyle." I didn't understand, so I asked what she meant.
We didn't choose this out of laziness, or to avoid hard work or responsibility.
Her response indicated that she assumed we no longer had jobs, since we lived in a bus. This was obviously the driving force behind our entire lifestyle overhaul, wasn't it?
It surprised her to hear Andrew and I still have our jobs, and still work just as much as we did before we lived in the bus. We didn't choose this out of laziness, or to avoid hard work or responsibility. We chose this to improve the quality of the time we spend not at work, as well as save money. Significant amounts that would otherwise be blown on rent and utilities. We might look like hippies, but we're hippies with a 401k.
